When my dear dear ‘sister’ Grace is cooking, you know you’re in for something special and yummy!
That was once again the case on Saturday, April 9, 2011. She had planned a dinner party in her apartment, but, at the last minute, the other two guests cancelled. So, it ended up just being us, but we had a great time together and ate very well!
This was actually the first time I’d had her Asian cooking.
We started off with lettuce wraps with ground pork, mushrooms, water chestnuts, orange slices, and tortilla chips. It tasted, at least to me, to be a little Asian-Mexican fusion. It was messy and oh so yummy! I think I had three!
We then had dumplings and sauce, also wonderful.
After that, it was time for a chicken curry dish with basil and jalapeños, accompanied by snow peas with sesame oil and seeds! Delicious!
Grace even made me to-go containers so I could relive the experience the next day.
Also, a cool thing happened not long before I left home to see Grace. While in the middle of watching Law & Order: Special Victims Unit on my DVR (they brought back Diane Neal as Casey Novak), I saw three Chinook helicopters fly down the Hudson River and then back up again.
