Here’s to continuing to try new things!
My friend Kate and I hadn’t seen each other for about two months (you know how life just gets in the way). We considered meeting up in Hoboken (as we had often done), her meeting me in the city, or trying somewhere up in my neck of the woods. We decided to try the relatively new Totowah Bar & Restaurant. It’s where Redspoon used to be.
We had a great time!
As if often the case, there were starters included in the meal. Here you see salad on the left and kimchi on the right. We thought the yellow things in the middle might be some sort of candied something or other, but it turned out to be a pickled vegetable of some sort. We still don’t know what it was, but it was interesting.
There was also a miso-type soup (do they call it miso soup in Korea?).
We ordered the Korean Sushi with Tuna. At $6.99, it was a generous portion well prepared and we quite liked it.
We also ordered the Korean Sushi with Spicy Crab & Flying Fish Egg. It was also quite good. It’s hard to say if one was better than the other, but we were quite pleased. I liked the added taste of egg in the sushi.

Additionally, we ordered something with really cool name that was not what we expected. We ordered the Spicy Sticky Noodle Seafood Soup. Though unexpected, we were very happy with what we got.
Reasoning that we would want a little of everything in every bite, we mixed it all together. At $8.99, it’s a lot of delicious food.
Finally, we had the Udon with Mussel Soup. It was just what we expected. Mussels are usually fun, as they were that night, and the price was great at $10.99.
We ended up sitting there eating and talking for like two and a half hours! We each took some of it home. I still have some of the Spicy Sticky Noodle Seafood Soup to finish tonight!
So, make your way there and check this place out!!! I fully intend to go back!
