My friend Grace and I hadn’t seen each other in a little while. So, on Friday, November 4, 2011, we had dinner together at Indian Road Cafe in the upper Manhattan neighborhood of Inwood (and used my Groupon).
We started out with an order of the Flying Pigs Farm Smoked Slab Bacon (with white bean salad). It was different. I had never ordered bacon like this, and though it wasn’t bad, I don’t think I will do so again.
We also split an Autumn Salad (Mixed Organic Baby Greens, Sun Dried Cranberries, Dried Figs, Apricots, Toasted Pumpkin Seeds, Black Mission Fig Vinaigrette). It was full of flavor and really hit the spot. If it’s on the menu, order it!
Up next, we had the Lobster Macaroni & Cheese (Asiago, Pecorino Romano, Parmesan Reggiano, Lobster, Truffle Oil). It was delicious.
We also had the Cuban Panino (Berkshire Pork Shoulder, Ham, Pickles, Swiss, Dijon Mustard, Ciabatta). It was tasty, but a bit dry.
Indian Road Cafe is a delightful little spot just off the beaten path. If you’re up in that neck of the woods, stop in and have a bite.
